delimiter "--" is not necessary, even without, when writing from nabble-UI, footer is removed.

Answering from gmail, footer does not disappear in the quote.

This one is

 * most possibly a defect from the nabble-UI (they do not delimit the footer correct/ in a standard way)
 * possibly a defect from gmail (they ignore the footer delimiter)

(I don't know if there is a standard-mechanism for this, the only one I know is the"--", as used within usenet.)

Now with a signature delimiter "-- " (minus minus space)

It seems that gmail ignores it still.

Possibly an option?

I've setup a footer on  gmail. Gmail automatically inserts a footer-delimiter (dash dash space).

nabble-UI ignores the footer-delimiter which comes from outside. It quotes the footer.

Re: [OT] - Test Topic, please ignore

I give up for now:

summary:

the footer delimiter is "-- " (dash dash space)

gmail ignores the footer-delimiter
nabble-UI ignores the footer-delimiter

The dojo-toolkit list should delimit any footer with the standard delimiter "-- ".

The rest is up to the clients.

Karl Tiedt

Did you really need to generate 13 emails on a high population list to test email footers? Very inconsiderate of the other 2k+ members...

Please! People usually know how to setup a general or a selective filter (based on the [OT] tag or the title).

It seems like the huge footer is placed only when using the mailinglist.
